Friends Forever

on a warm and sunny spring day

I came to know Barney the gopher;

we became fast friends,

he chatting on the steps with me

and i keeping his front yard mowed

but soon spring turned to fall -

we went our separate ways...

he did not want to live inside -

i didn't fancy going underground
